ALDI SOUTH Group receives the Red Cross Humanity Business Award

The Heinrich-Treichl foundation was established in 1993 on the 80^th birthday of Heinrich Treichl, Honorary President of the Austrian Red Cross. Once a year, the Red Cross awards individuals who have demonstrated their humanitarian spirit through outstanding personal achievements and contributed to spreading knowledge of the humanitarian principles and companies are honoured for their outstanding social commitment to the Austrian Red Cross.

In 2022 and 2023, ALDI donated more than €1 million to the Austrian Red Cross (part of an overall fund of €5 million) for the provision of food parcels, water, sanitation equipment and supplies for emergency shelters. Contributions were also made to purchase ambulances for the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in order to support the operation of Mobile Health Units. With the war still ongoing, our support is now focusing on livelihoods, rehabilitation, reconstruction and disaster risk management. 

In 2023, ALDI donated a further €500,000 to guarantee immediate help for individuals, families and communities distressed by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
