2021 Modern Slavery Statements: How ALDI Australia and ALDI UK & IE prevent and address modern slavery

ALDI Australia and ALDI UK & Ireland have continued their efforts to tackle modern slavery and safeguard the people in their supply chains from the risks of exploitation.

ALDI Australia

In its 2021 Modern Slavery statement, ALDI Australia outlines its approach to tackling modern slavery over the past year and demonstrates its efforts to improve the working conditions of production facilities in all its supply chains. They are also working closely with its business partners to identify, mitigate and remedy any early indicators or instances of modern slavery.

“There has never, and will never be, a place for modern slavery in our operations. Our focus on taking swift action when early signs of exploitation, risk or non-compliancy presents itself has enabled our business to step in and take effective measures to protect impacted workers. Our actions over the past year have been further refined through our partnership with Slave-Free Alliance who have supported our proactive measures to prevent modern slavery and ensure fair and safe working conditions.”

Daniel Baker, Director of Corporate Responsibility at ALDI Australia.

ALDI UK and Ireland

ALDI UK and Ireland have a targeted, risk-based approach to modern slavery, focusing on the areas of its business and supply chains where the level of risk is highest; this includes logistics, produce and flowers, recruitment, and construction.

“We recognise that preventing modern slavery in a global supply chain requires constant vigilance and we will continue to work collaboratively with other retailers, suppliers, NGOs, governments and industry partners to tackle this pervasive issue. Modern slavery has no place in our business or supply chains, and we remain fully committed to eradicating modern slavery wherever we discover it.”

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive at ALDI UK and Ireland
