World Animal Day: Going the extra mile for animals in the UK

Animal welfare is an important part of being a responsible business and ALDI UK is committed to high standards of animal welfare in food and non-food products. Various measures to ensuring animal welfare support this approach: cruelty-free products, animal welfare requirements and partnerships.

Free from animal testing

The leading animal protection organisation, Cruelty Free International, has accredited ALDI UK’s entire own-label household and beauty range as cruelty free certified. ALDI is proud to be 1 of only 4 UK retailers to have been awarded the gold standard leaping bunny certification.

RSPCA Assured products

ALDI UK has a wide range of higher welfare products and in 2018 ALDI was the second largest retailer of RSPCA Assured products in the UK. Salmon, pork and free-range chicken and eggs are labelled with the RSPCA Assured logo, which means that they meet the RSPCA’s strict requirements on animal welfare.

ALDI Dairy Farm Partnership

The ALDI Dairy Farm Partnership is a partnership between ALDI UK and Arla Foods, a farmer owned cooperative, designed to create best practice animal welfare and farm management knowledge for the betterment of the UK dairy industry. Initially there will be a national group of British dairy farmers sponsored by ALDI and they will work together to create best practice animal welfare standards in relation to the environment, the local community and the people who work on the farms.

Read the ALDI UK Animal Welfare Strategy and Performance for more information about animal welfare requirements between ALDI and its suppliers.
