ALDI’s €150,000 donation (50% of the project cost) will ensure that a total of 1 million packs of baby food puree are distributed.
According to Meleco’s representative Andreas Kreuzwieser, the idea behind this project started during last summer when it became clear that the war would continue into winter.

"Together with SUNUA co-founder Thomas Brunner, who committed to helping people affected by the conflict that began in 2022, we recruited 184 volunteers including 70 growers. ALDI has been our partner for organic fruit and vegetables for 15 years; we count much on this alliance. Thanks to ALDI's generous donation, the project could get in motion very fast. With the next delivery, we will reach 415,000 portions handed out to date", Kreuzwieser explained.

The donations have been allocated and distributed in the areas of Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kramatorsk, Cherson, Mykolajiw, and other smaller towns and villages in Eastern Ukraine.
Approximately 80 hospitals, refugee camps, and orphanages will receive squeeze bags. The ingredients include puree made of organic bananas, pears, apples, blueberries, blackberries, carrots, mangos, sweet potato, and peas. The first full load was successfully delivered in mid-February and the project will be completed by May 2023.
These joint efforts affirms ALDI’s commitment towards human rights protection while supporting sustainable supply chains that benefit everyone.
