ALDI SOUTH Group joins the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)

In line with our responsible sourcing strategy to mitigate adverse human rights impacts of our business activity, the ALDI SOUTH Group announces that we have been accepted as a Foundation stage member of the ETI. ETI is a global alliance of companies, trade unions and NGOs that promotes respect for workers' rights.

“We have made a lot of progress over the past years through our non-food Social Monitoring Programme, ALDI Factory Advancement Project, food social certification goals and development of our responsible sourcing strategy. Nevertheless, we know we still have further to go along our journey. We look forward to sharing experiences and working together with the ETI”, comments Anke Ehlers, Managing Director Corporate Responsibility International (CRI).

Peter McAllister, Executive Director of ETI, said: “We are delighted to welcome ALDI SOUTH to Foundation membership at ETI. ALDI SOUTH has a profile and reach that extends across the UK and Europe to the US, Australia and China. Its desire to take a leading role and commitment to improving workers’ rights sends an important signal to the global retail sector as a whole”.

Over the next five years, ALDI SOUTH intends to further address issues within its high priority supply chains via a number of measures. Further details can be found on the Human Rights webpage and Human Rights Policy statement.
