The ALDI SOUTH Group and ALDI Nord Group stand out again in Textile Exchange’s “Material Change Index"

The ALDI SOUTH Group and ALDI Nord Group further improved their overall performance compared to previous years and continue to be ranked among the Top 10 largest retailers according to the Material Change Insights 2021, published in June 2022. We made great progress and used more than 56% preferred” cotton fibers. We improved from fifth place to fourth place for recycled cotton use and maintained fourth place for organic cotton use. We are also proud to have improved our “Top 10 by Volume Preferred Down ranking” from ninth place to fourth place.

More than 320 companies participated in the Material Change Index, the largest voluntary peer-to-peer comparison initiative in the textile industry. It tracks the apparel, footwear, and home textile sector’s progress towards more sustainable materials sourcing, as well as alignment with global efforts like the Sustainable Development Goals and the transition to a circular economy.

The Material Change Index is a key component of Textile Exchange’s Corporate Fibre & Materials Benchmark (CFMB) program, which allows participating companies to measure, manage and integrate a preferred fibre and materials strategy into their business. By participating in the CFMB, organisations demonstrate a commitment to transparency and continuous improvement around their materials sourcing strategy

We are proud to be part of the important journey to drive positive change in global textile markets through the use of more sustainable materials. We are aware that there is an urgency to expand solutions and are eager to offer our customers a growing sustainable product portfolio.”
