Second International CR Report published

The ALDI SOUTH Group has now published its second International Corporate Responsibility Report (CR Report). In accordance with the Sustainability Reporting Standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the internationally operating discount retail company provides a detailed picture of how it assumes social and ecological responsibility as part of its core business activities as well as throughout its entire supply chain. The CR Report also includes the first progress report submitted by the ALDI SOUTH Group to the United Nations Global Compact.

We, as a large, internationally operating retail business, assume responsibility for people, planet, and climate. By means of internationally harmonised goals and measures, we aim to contribute to the implementation of more sustainable business practices, says Sven van den Boomen, Managing Director Corporate Responsibility at ALDI International Services GmbH & Co. OHG.

By publishing its second CR Report, the ALDI SOUTH Group continues its efforts to transparently communicate about sustainability-related topics and allows insight into its activities within the five CR-related core fields of action (Customers, Supply Chain, People, Community, and Environment). ALDI SOUTH provides an overview of its key measures and goals as well as its progress achieved and future challenges. For each field of action, a particularly relevant topic is covered in detail: for example, the health and well-being of its customers, the assessment of supplier performance with regard to sustainability, and occupational health and safety as well as health promotion for ALDI SOUTH employees.

The topics covered in the CR Report – for example fair business relationships, occupational health and safety, or reduction of greenhouse gas emissions – have been selected based on the expectations of key stakeholder groups and depending on the respective impacts of the ALDI SOUTH Group's business operations. Within the scope of an online survey, a total of more than 5,900 stakeholders across all eleven countries in which the ALDI SOUTH Group operates were requested to rate the relevance they attach to different sustainability-related topics. In addition to those topics which are of particular relevance to the stakeholders, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations as well as the United Nations Global Compact together constitute a fundamental framework for the sustainability-related activities undertaken by the ALDI SOUTH Group.
